The Mother of the Earth: Born from Sand, Stone and Time, Shaping the Future
First Plinths 2025 Public Art Award, finalists (one of five)
Royal Society of Sculptors, Dora House, London
April 2025
Formed by the ocean’s gentle touch, the Mothers of the Earth emerged from the shifting sands—shaped by wind, water, and time. The grandmother carried the past’s wisdom, the mother bore the present’s weight, and the child held the future’s promise.
As they stepped beyond the shore, they wrapped themselves in pebbles—each stone a memory of the earth. Now, they journey to Dora House, standing as quiet yet powerful symbols of continuity and change.
The Mothers of the Earth remind us of our deep bond with nature and our responsibility to protect it. The future, like them, is shaped by time—and by us.
